Monthly Contributions

How Contributions are calculated

As a member of our HealthShare, monthly contributions are essential to maintaining an active membership and being eligible to share in medical expenses. The contributions are based on various factors such as the membership type (Direct or Essential), the number of people in the household (ranging from individual to family memberships), and the initial unshareable amount (IUA) selected by the member.

Contributions are voluntary, but they are required for participation in the medical cost-sharing community. If a member fails to submit their contribution within 30 days of the due date, their membership becomes inactive, and they may be withdrawn from the community. However, members can reapply and have their membership reinstated if they meet the eligibility requirements.

Members who use tobacco products are subject to a $50 monthly surcharge, increasing the overall monthly contribution per household. These contributions, aside from a small portion allocated for administrative costs, are placed in the community fund to cover eligible medical expenses of other members.

For members looking to share in medical costs, it's crucial to remain current with contributions, as only those in good standing can participate in sharing requests
