Zion HealthShare is a nonprofit healthcare sharing ministry — not an insurance company. Members contribute monthly to a shared pool, and when a medical need arises, the community shares eligible expenses together. There is no annual or lifetime maximum on eligible sharing.

Zion HealthShare began in 2019 and has become the fastest-growing, top-rated HealthShare in the nation. It is free from network restrictions, religious requirements, and enrollment limitations.

The IUA (Initial Unshareable Amount) is the amount a member pays before expenses become eligible for sharing — similar in concept to a deductible, but structured differently. There are three IUA options: $1,250, $2,500, and $5,000.

Key IUA Rules

  • No annual or lifetime maximum on eligible sharing after the IUA is met
  • Members do not pay another IUA for the same medical need until symptom-free for 12 months
  • Household memberships are responsible for no more than 3 IUAs in a rolling 12-month period
  • After 3 IUAs paid in 12 months, additional eligible sharing requests over $500 have no IUA
  • IUA can be changed once per membership year — lowering it triggers a 60-day waiting period
  • IUA must be paid within 6 months of the date of service

A pre-membership medical condition is any condition where a member was examined, diagnosed, took medication, had symptoms, or received treatment within the 24 months prior to their membership start date.

Phase-In Sharing Limits

Membership YearMaximum Eligible for Sharing
Year 1$0 (waiting period)
Year 2$25,000 per sharing request
Year 3$50,000 per sharing request
Year 4+$125,000 per 12-month period

Exception: High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes (types 1 & 2) are NOT considered pre-membership conditions as long as the member has not been hospitalized for the condition in the 12 months prior to enrolling and can control it through medication or diet.

This is one of the most important reasons to join sooner rather than later — the phase-in clock starts on your membership start date. The longer you wait, the longer before full sharing is available for existing conditions.
